Between 2011 and 2013 we collaborated in Venezuela with activist group Colectivo Agroecológico Tierra y Libertad.
Working towards the dissemination of Social Ecology and indigenous-peasant agricultural practices, together with academic researcher from Central University of Venezuela facilitated workshops and classes at the farm of the Gonzales- Zorrillo family where they have set up a community school in the Waraira Repano National Park, Caracas.
Maiz Cariaco:
After decades of monoculture practices and introduction of "improved" varieties of seeds, Maiz Cariaco, a local variety of Maize is in the brink of extinction. A historical revision on how and why this came to happen as well as strategies to recuparate this simbolic crop was the main focus of the activities.
